What We Believe
The members of German Valley CRC wholeheartedly affirm the following Statement of Faith
  • We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, accurate and reliable in every way, and that it is the source of what we believe and the final authority for Christian faith and life.
  • We believe that the world and everything in it was created as an act of love by the one true God existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that our world belongs to God who directs and bends to his will all that happens in his world so that all things come to us not by chance, but from his fatherly hand.
  • We believe that early in human history the first humans fell for Satan's lie and sinned by rebelling against their Creator. They forgot their place as creatures; they tried to be like God. The sin of our first parents resulted in all humanity being separated from God and lost in a topsy turvy world.
  • We believe that God's Son, Jesus Christ, died and rose again to bear all humanity's sins and to make available to everyone a reconciled relationship to God that lasts for eternity. Jesus was uniquely able to accomplish this because He is completely God and completely man.
  • We believe that reconciliation to God occurs when He works in our lives by the Holy Spirit, causing us to ask for forgiveness of sins and to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This process, called salvation, is entirely a work of God's grace.
  • We believe that obedient Christian living is learned and practiced, not to gain standing with God, but to express life-long gratitude for grace received.
  • We believe that The Apostle's Creed accurately communicates the fundamental teachings of the Christian faith, and that The Nicene Creed, The Athanasian Creed, The Heidelberg Catechism, The Belgic Confession, and the The Canons of Dordt further expand and inform our understanding of Christian faith.
  • Over time, the Christian Reformed Church has clearly stated its position on a variety of contemporary topics. The following are summaries of the denomination's theological and ethical positions as stated over the years by synod.
